Welcome! Tranquility Valley Ranch is a private, family-owned working cattle ranch established in 1946 by Miss Carolyn's parents. The ranch was named by Carolyn and her children because it has been a refuge from some of the pressures of the outside world. Our hope is that you, too, can find some tranquility, peace and entertainment to renew your spirit.
We love to share the natural beauty of the ranch with other appreciative folks and strive to preserve as much of the pristine wilderness as possible in all of our endeavors.
Miss Carolyn's blog:
November, 2011 -- This year has been busy. We planted 143 acres of Loblolly pine in the spring. However, due to the unseasonably dry, hot summer, we will have to replant many of them again next year. Here's hoping for a more normal amount of rainfall this next year. It is fun to watch the growth of the trees that survived.
Again, due to the dry, hot summer, our hay harvest was less than normal. To make up for some of the hay that we lost, we have pasture-drilled in some wheat and ryegrass. So far, it looks like a good stand. We are currently working on getting some chicken litter spread for fertilization. Fence repairs have also been a top priority to keep the cattle off the green pasture until later in the feeding season. Of course the deer are enjoying the tender, green wheat and ryegrass. They don't seem to respect the fences.
HUNTING - We got a late start advertising our hunting slots, so we still have several good ones left to choose from. Check out the hunting page for what is available.
I attended Cowboy Church this morning at the Poteau Cowboy Trade Days. Pastor Ted Noland demonstrated horse-breaking as an analogy to our relationship with God. He was provided a 5-yr. old unbroke mare and using his skills as a trainer, saddled and rode the mare around the arena by the time his Extreme Sermon on the Mount was completed. I hope to be able to have him present this demonstration at our spring Chuckwagon Round-up. Keep your fingers crossed that our dates will not conflict with something he already has on his calendar. I have lots of unbroke horses that I can provide him for this amazing lesson on horse training and our relationship with Our Lord. Hope you can be here to watch him.
That's it for now. I will check in from time to time as we get projects finalized. E-mail me if you have any questions or comments. Hope all your trail rides are fun!
